New lives in a New Year

I was happy to learn that mama Jackie found her family in time to be in her new home by Christmas. Avalanche (thanks to one of her fans) found a perfect family and will start the new year with other cats, a dog, and nice kids to play with her and spoil her. That leaves Snowflake and Snowball, sweet cuddly purr babies and Doris and Opie, shiny black beauties and orange boy Ramsey. They leave my house tonight to go to the shelter to seek their fortunes. I'm told they should all have homes by the weekend. I wish them well, sweet kitties all.
I don't know what's next. More kittens? or a break. Time will tell.

Thanksgiving adventure

Snowflake, Avalanche, and Snowball had a fine Thanksgiving. They were invited to be the after-dinner show at a Thanksgiving gathering. They had a ball exploring new places and meeting new people. Our lovely hostess mentioned a sleepover. While I didn't really intend that to happen Snowball took her at her word. When it was time to pack up kittens and go home only Snowflake and Avalanche could be found. Snowball showed up the next morning curled up on the VCR.

Autumn kittens are still with me. Finally they are healthy. Meanwhile Frosty, Avalanche, Snowball and Snowflake joined us. Here is Avalanche in action.

You snooze, you lose

Serendipity was at work on Monday. I heard there was a family looking for a kitten and minutes later they called. Since I had the whole gang at SPOT they came to visit kittens. The bigger kittens were there to be neutered. The smaller ones only got vaccines. The little boy who was picking out a kitten wanted one of the orange boys and Tucker was wide awake. Ramsey was still sleepy after his surgery. So Tucker was the chosen one. He still needs to get bigger and have his surgery but it is wonderful to know that he'll have a happy home. Ramsey and Opie will star at Adorable Adoptables at the library on Saturday so maybe they'll win someone's heart there. Sweet mama Jackie is also looking for a home. She's sweet and lovable and very attractive with her orange and black face.

Fall Color

Here they are at last. Isn't Mama Jackie a stunning girl? I call the smallest black kitten (the only girl) Hoover because she just sucks up the food. I love the way they line up black, orange, black (and sometimes orange). Orange boys have it down. Eat, snuggle, then play. Opie, the black male is feeling so good these days he hates to stop playing even to eat! Hoover likes to snuggle and has a nice purr but she eats so much she's ready to fall asleep when she finally quits!

Happy Homes

Marilyn, Lizzie, James, and Dean have all found their homes! The new batch of kittens is STILL fighting their upper respiratory infections. They are getting better but too slowly to suit me. This morning they lined up to greet me. Orange, black, orange, black. Cute little devils. When they are healthy I'll post pictures.

Marvelous Martin Moves to Michigan!

I learned yesterday that sweet orange Martin has found his family. He was found on Petfinder by a kind man who knew his sister was missing a fine orange cat she'd lost. Wise adoption counselors suggested he check with her before adopting since she might not be ready for another cat. She was thrilled and excited so Martin was packed up with all necessities and taken to start a wonderful new life in Michigan. I think he'll have a fine home.

Halloween is coming

Marilyn, James, Dean, and Marlo have gone off to seek their fortunes. I hope they find great families and have the love and care they deserve.
The kitten room now is occupied by a Halloween group. Mama Jackie is torti and half of her face is black while the other half is orange. In keeping with the theme she has three black kittens and two orange kittens. Mama was pretty run down but her appetite is improving and I think a quiet spot and lots of TLC will make her feel better. Four kittens are doing pretty well and one tiny kitten is worrying me. Again, good food, a quiet spot and lots of love may help her thrive and grow. Wish me luck with the latest fixer-uppers!

Marvelous Miss Marilyn

This little girl is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures don't do her justice. Living with 4 brothers she holds her own. She'd love to settle in to a home of her own. She loves to wrestle with the guys and would do well with other cats but four brothers is a lot of work for one little girl!

Topsy Turvy

Dean and Marlo just can't seem to stay right side up! Dean is fluffy and Marlo will be short haired. They are both sweet, sweet boys.

Martin, James, and Dean

Martin is the orange guy. He was found in the middle of a very busy intersection. Life has been quieter for him lately. He's ready for the big move to a home of his own.
James has recovered from his respiratory infection and is playful and busy. He will make the trip to SPOT on August 10th. After that he will be ready for a home.
Fluffy tabby boy is Dean. He's so sweet and cuddly and he's ready for a home.

Sweet Baby James

We had a bit of a setback with James. He was pretty sick last week but is frisking around now and his breathing is almost back to normal. Life went on for the others. We picked up a little orange guy to add to the group. I call him Martin. He wasn't sure he wanted to join in all the kitten games but he's settling in now. Everyone but James went to Cloverdale on Monday. Marlo, Dean, and Martin were neutered but Marilyn didn't make weight. She did her part by helping me watch over them in recovery. She washed them and sat on them and then curled up and napped with them. Since my goal was for the boys to wake up I felt I was losing ground when I went from 3 sleeping kittens to 4 sleeping kittens. They are all doing well and Marilyn can go to Cloverdale with James next month.

New Kittens on the Block!

Marilyn, Marlo, James, and Dean arrived today.
I caught their sweet faces before they left the carrier but Marlo settled right in the kitty bed and James was chasing his tail when I left. Sweet babies!

Lilies for Lily

A new beginning

Lily was picked up by three members of her new family. She seems to like her pink collar and pretty pink carrier. I hear she's settling in with new feline and canine friends. It's a happy day for Lily.

Lizzie is still looking for a home. She has joined the cat colony where I hope her sweet friendly nature and pretty stripes will win someone's heart.

Packing her bags

Lily is getting ready to start her new life. She was spayed and microchipped on Monday at SPOT seespot.org and tomorrow she'll go home with her new family. They have been waiting for her to reach 2 lbs so she could joing them. She's a very lucky girl. Lizzie will be joining the Cat Colony at the Animal Shelter so I hope her charm and beauty will get her a good home. After raising two litters of kittens nearly simultaneously she deserves a chance to let her inner kitten have its day.

Lily at SPOT

There are a couple of shots in here that are a week or two older. You can see how she's grown!

She's Lily now

Felicity is just too long for a little girl. Lily suits her just fine. She gets weighed in the white bowl and once she figured out I wanted her in the bowl she had a great time bouncing in and out of the bowl. She also loves to pounce on mama Lizzie's tail. They are good pals.

Cuter Than Ever

It's tough to take pictures of tiny kittens without a helper. These were taken by holding the kitten with one hand and the camera with the other. Many pictures were deleted but these capture some of their adorable cuteness. Mama Lizzie deserves a picture too for being a good role model and taking care of these little girls. Felicity pounces on little Ellie, I wonder if she thinks her sister is a mouse? El doesn't seem to mind but I hope to see her pounce back someday. The other night I was visiting with kittens and Ellie kept running over to the food bowl. She must have been thinking I should know what to do by now. Since it was obviously feeding time rather than snuggling time I did the right thing and gave them their supper.

Weigh IN

I've promised weekly updates on weight so here is the first. I use a food scale which handles just a few ounces on up to pounds. I have pictures but can't seem to put them here.
I'll put them on Facebook.

Playdate!

Felicity can read!

Ellie and Felicity went on a playdate and fell in love. They romped, they snuggled, they played with toys. They cried when they had to leave. When they got home they chowed down. I think they want to grow up and leave home!
