Survivors

Arlo

This little girl came to me with open wounds and had picked up a virus which wiped out her littermates. She's peppy and perky now and the friendliest little girl around.

Paul, the little orange guy is busy, busy, busy. He loves to play and snuggle too. Mary, his tabby sister is a little calmer but still peppy and playful.

She can be held like a baby, doesn't mind being belly up. She loves to snuggle. They survived a different virus but their brother Peter did not. I've been very busy playing animal hospital but now I'm back to playing with healthy kittens.

Paul has been neutered and the girls will go soon. They deserve great homes!

News from the Boys

Remember these charmers? I just talked to someone who adopted two of them. I'm thrilled that they have a good home and so happy to know they are together. I hope the others did as well even if I don't know their adopters.

Trading Cards!

Things have not been very happy lately in the kitten world but here's a fun thing. Trading cards for all adoptable kittens could be just the thing. I think I'm using the word thing all the time because I learned how to do this on Thing 5 of my 23 Things.
Maybe I'll make them trading cards when they go in for adoption. Anything to make them stand out.

Adoption News

I always look at the MCHA posters to see if any of my buddies are there. I saw Jagger and Cassandra. I was sad to see them still without homes but when I dropped off Iris, Irvin and Innis to join the kitten colony I found out that Cassandra and Jagger had been adopted. Donald is on the poster too but I didn't see him in the kitten colony so I'm hoping he has also found a home. I dropped in the cat colony for a visit with Indigo. She was so happy to see me and we had a fine visit. She seems content in the cat colony for now but I was told she already has a suitor and possibly would be picked up on Friday. I hope that happened! She's a very fine cat.
The revolving door continues.......soon you'll see my new babies: Peter, Paul and Mary.

Love Pets and Chocolate?

Too many possible readers are far away but for anyone in the area there is a benefit for the
SPOT clinic in Greencastle on Monday the 17th. From 5-9 their dessert buffet will be $10 and that entire amount goes to the featured groups. Monday night is for SPOT and a rescue group called Ark. I hope there is a good turnout, both groups can always use $$$

More Praise for Adult Cats

This is Johnny. When I approached him with the camera he began to pose. He's not laughing in the top picture, he's yawning but clearly he got the joke. He rolled, he bathed, he looked at me upside down. So not only are adult cats great pets but they are a heck of a lot easier to photograph!

In praise of adult cats

Lovely Indigo has gone to seek her fortune in the Cat Colony. I focus mainly on kittens but I really must admit that I've have some of the sweetest mama cats pass through my doors. I'm hoping Indigo will find the kind of home she deserves.

While kittens are totally adorable and (for me) irresistible there are lots of smart folks out there who head right for the adult cats.

Cat Friendly

One lovely thing about fostering kittens is that they are exposed to many household experiences.
Dobby is a sweet, gentle dog and all of the foster kittens leave my house feeling good about dogs.
Since many adoptive families include dogs this is a very good attitude.
Thank you Dobby for doing your part in kitten training!

Sweetness and Light at Wonderlab

Ginny invited me to bring a cat to Wonderlab to meet the preschoolers. Peru and Chester went with me and had a great time! They were briefly concerned about being surrounded by tiny tots but then discovered that every one of them had a toy and the game was on! They were filmed by a crew from WFYI. I hope they got some good film, it was a lovely time for all.

The Latest Cat Toy

Years ago our cats had a toy called a Newt Hoot. It did my heart good to see the cats fling Mr Gingrich around the living room. I predict this toy will also gladden some hearts.

The little "i"s

This is a group photo taken while they were at SPOT
Irvin is the shadow between the two tabbies.
From back to front it's Innis, Irvin and pretty Iris.

Indigo

Sweet cuddly mama Indigo. She loves to rub noses. She doesn't see why I bother with the kittens when she wants to be on my lap every minute. She's calm and unflappable. Indigo will make someone an wonderful companion.

Innis

He looks a lot like his sister but he's bolder and busier. He loves to wrestle with Irvin. Both boys actively seek out my attention. Innis loves to pounce on Indigo's twitching tail. She always seems surprised by the attack but by now you'd think she'd realize it happens every time!

I,I,I, I

Here's Iris. She does cat yoga. She's scratching the top of her head with her back paw. After that she's happy to settle in for some meditation. Then she'll chase her brothers and wrestle them into submission. She is a little shy but once I sit down and sit still she likes to come and hang out with me.

New Faces

Irvin

The Pirate Maxes have gone off to seek their fortunes. I know Rupert was adopted but I don't know about the other boys or their adorable moms.

At the same time I picked up a mama with 3 kittens and an orphan. Sadly the orphan kitten, an adorable black and white kitty names Skittles didn't survive. Indigo the mama and her two sons, Innis and Irvin and sweet little Iris are all doing well. They made the trip to SPOT on Monday and are doing well.

ARRRRRGH

Ahoy there! It's Talk like a Pirate Day! The tabby boys are definitely pirates. They can swarm all over anything including a ship in the blink of an eye. They have taken on the name Max........it works for all four. That makes it much easier to talk to them, no worry about identity. Max you stop it right now!! Max don't bite your brother Max. Oh Max what a sweet and cuddly boy you are. The pirates and their hostage mamas will be moving on soon to seek their fortunes. Happy Landings boys!

The Kittens Stole My Keys!

Uh oh, HoosierKitty, I think the boys are trying to tell us that they're ready for their driver's licenses!

The Kitties Play While HoosierKitty is Away!

Everyone misses HoosierKitty, but they're putting on brave faces for the camera!
Here Miss Peggy strikes a pose...

Cassandra looks as demure as ever...

and Chester is always ready for his close-up!

The boys want to know...when is HoosierKitty coming home??

And I think that Peru is expecting a souvenir!

Under the Tuscan Sun

Hoosierkitty has left the country. She'll return in late September. There may be a guest blogger updating kitten pictures. I hope she does!

The Boys

Here they are. Who is who? That's another mystery. Rupert has a worried look even when he's not being photographed but the others are very, very similar. They are busy, happy, playful boys. Donald, Rupert, Mick and Jagger, what a fun bunch of kittens!

Peggy

Peggy also has the mystery thing down. You can see her looking enigmatic. She also loves to snuggle and play. She seems to be more involved with the kittens than Cassandra but that may be because Cassandra likes to go out and explore while I'm visiting kittens.

It's a Mystery

Who is Cassandra? Who is Peggy? Are they sisters? Do Rupert and Donald belong with Cassandra or Peggy? How about Mick and Jagger? They all live together very happily and either mama gives a lick or nudge to any kitten who needs it. Perhaps Cassandra and Peggy were sister wives.

Chester's Sad Story

Look at that face! Chester is the sweetest boy, purring and cuddly and playful. Look at his poor foot. A couple of weeks ago Chester was found hanging in a tree. Someone tied up his foot with fishing line and hung him in a tree. Luckily he was found by a kind soul and taken where he could get help. He lost his toes but is quite unconcerned about it. He's having a fine time hanging out with Peru and I'm pleased he's come to stay with me while he continues to recover. I'm hoping the rest of Chester's life will be as sweet as he deserves. He's a honey.

Goodbye Brazil, Welcome home Peru

This is not an Olympics post, just the international kitties. Brazil has gone to the cat colony to find her new family. I made them write on her kennel card that she is as sweet as she is beautiful and it's absolutely true. She has all the beauty of a Siamese with none of the bad traitI'm sure someone will fall in love with her soon.

The last of the Berries, Gooseberry, has been adopted. That's very happy news.
Bolivia and Chile were spayed on Monday so they can move on soon. Peru is doing better now, she had a bug and lost some weight. Now she's gaining and doing better. While she was ill she went to Dr Nancy's Home for Forlorn Felines and while she was there she picked up a boyfriend. It's just unnatural for kittens to be alone so it was wonderful that Peru and Chester found each other.

Berry Good News

I went to the shelter today to drop off some donated items for the animals and checked on the Berries. All the Berries except Gooseberry have been adopted! I spent some time cuddling Gooseberry who seems quite content with her new kitten friends. I'm hoping she'll find her family soon.

Heavy Boots

The Berries have gone off to seek their fortunes. This is bittersweet, it's hard to say goodbye.

Oskar, the main character in Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Foer, describes his sad feelings as Heavy Boots. So it was with heavy boots that I took the Berries in to meet new families.

I'm consoling myself with a much-anticipated visit from DrHausfrau and these darlings that are still in my house. Mama Brazil, the exotic beauty is a love. Chile, the tabby likes to be close to me so she's in ultra closeups! Peru and Bolivia are snuggly but busy so you see them in action.
