Upstairs, Downstairs

Peru and Bolivia are upstairs in the nursery
Meanwhile Gooseberry, Huckleberry, and Hollyberry play on the stairs.

Lots of action! Don't let those angelic faces fool you they're about to run off and tackle the nearest sibling. The berries have their appointment with Dr. Nancy on July 14th and will be ready for new homes after that. So far Mulberry is the only one with prospects. These kittens are everything a kitten should be, well socialized, faithful litter box users, they know their way around a scratching post.........and snuggly and playful. Sweet babies.

Looking for Love

Gooseberry is looking at the books so she can learn more about South America and her new neighbors. Huckleberry is looking into your eyes asking you to find him someone to love.

New Neighbors

Chili

It's kitten season and I resisted all the frantic e-mails about kittens in need of fostering until this group came along. Brazil and her little ones: Peru, Bolivia, and Chili were in dire need. When they came home Brazil had lost 2 lbs and was skin and bones. The little South Americans were frantic running around and demanding that I do SOMETHING! I got out the bottle for the babies and put out a smorgasboard of tempting morsels for Brazil. After a week of TLC Brazil has gained 9 oz and the littles gained 2-3 oz each so we're on the right track. They are now ignoring the bottle so I know that mama is taking care of their needs. Brazil is stunningly beautiful. She's a torti-point Siamese with gorgeous clear blue eyes. Her children are darling but don't show the Siamese side of their heritage. Chili is tabby and Peru and Bolivia are smoky black. They will all be gorgeous and are very snuggly

Can They Get Any Cuter??

They certainly can! They get cuter every day. They play so hard and then collapse for a nap.
It's easier to photograph them when they're sleeping but they are so cute when they look at you with those sweet kitten eyes. It really looks like Gooseberry may end up with pretty green eyes, the jury is still out on the grey kitties but they are so adorable I'm not in a hurry for their eyes to change. A compromise has been reached on the canned food issue. Still no canned food..........but a treat now and then instead. So far the threatened mutiny has not taken place.

A Note from the Berries

Dear Hoosierkitty,
Every day you give us the same instructions..."eat and grow big" We have been doing just that. We nurse every time we get the chance. We have learned how to nurse while Mama Mulberry is standing up. We've learned to eat that hard crunchy stuff and the softer stuff that tastes just like the hard crunchy stuff. Today we noticed there is more to life than hard crunchy stuff. You feed Mama something amazingly good up high on a box. We have learned to climb up there and we like that stuff! Mama let us eat it, she just stepped aside. We want to know why she gets special treatment! Bring on the canned food, we're taking over and if you hand over that good food nobody will be hurt.
With love from the Berries

The Eyes Have It

Nothing is cuter than a kitten when its eyes are blue. They'll be changing and I hope they'll end up a pretty soft green like Mulberry's eyes. Gooseberry may end up with golden eyes, they seem to be less blue already.
