Mr Stripeypants and his pal Pip
NO real names yet because the black ones are too hard to tell apart. One possibility was literary orphans like Pip, Homer, Heidi, (we used Oliver on the last orphan) but the tabby kitten is the most photogenic at the moment since it you can see more facial features and we started calling him Mr Stripeypants. I'm sure he'll get a better name as time goes on. He doesn't seem to mind.
Lovely Lizzie
Last night the kittens and I met a beautiful tabby who had been taken away from her kittens. She was painfully engorged and not sure at first that she wanted to take on kittens. Lots of growly grumbling at first and a few hisses but she began licking the kittens and slowly but surely she curled around the new family keeping them safe and warm. I watched for an hour to be sure all was well and got up once in the night to check. She's taking good care of the little orphans and everyone seems to be happy. I'll post pictures soon.

Cautiously Optimistic
I got a call Saturday at 5pm asking if I would be willing to take 4 tiny kittens. Their mother was very ill and unable to care for them. At this point they were barely two days old. Poor mama Godiva didn't make it but the kittens so far are lively and eating well. If we can just avoid the respiratory infection that took Godiva I think we'll be fine. Every day is a triumph. I had excellent news this morning, there is a "heavily lactating" mama cat who has been separated from her kittens. I'm hoping this will be a match made in heaven. Introductions tonight, I'm hoping they will love each other.

It's a good thing!
Kitten season will begin soon but it's good that there are no homeless kittens at this time. I see that Ittybittykittycommitte has new kittens so if you need a kitten fix check out her kittens.
Let's hope for healthy kittens this year!
