Sorry, no pictures today but a progress report is a good thing. Felicity and Ellie (Elana) are growing and thriving. They eat cat food now and Felicity even eats dry food. They are cuddly and loving and purr at the slightest touch. They use the litter box! They have been promoted to the BIG kitten room where they will have room to romp and play.
Meanwhile..........it's kitten season and the kitten nursery has new occupants. They were born yesterday and their mama is sneezing so I don't know how they'll do but I'll give them all I can to help them grow and thrive. Mama Lilac is very protective, I hope that means she'll be a good mama and raise healthy babies. I left them alone to settle in.

Big Eyes

Sorry these are a bit out of focus. This is what happens when you have a kitten in one hand and a camera in the other. Now that their eyes are open they seem to have huge eyes. The stripey one is grooming herself and getting around quite well. The black beauty is just a little slower but comes toddling to me the minute I enter the room. I think it's the bottle she loves but I still love to see her come to me. Stripey has learned about supplemental feedings too so she lets me know she's hungry too. They both purr the second they are touched. Very sweet. Mama Lizzie is still with them giving them snuggles and baths and feeding them but they seemed hungry so they get bottles as well as mama. Lizzie is an angel and very affectionate but I think she's had enough of the kitten business. No worries, Lizzie, you'll never have kittens again!

Kitten Update

These were taken Monday so they are almost a week old. Stripey looks a bit like a drowned rat because I had just washed her face to clean up a goopy eye. She is now bright eyed and beginning to wash herself. It's the cutest thing. Black kitty is smaller but pretty spunky too.
You can't tell from these pictures but I think they are both going to be beauties. I'll try for more pictures soon.

Mr Stripeypants and his pal Pip
NO real names yet because the black ones are too hard to tell apart. One possibility was literary orphans like Pip, Homer, Heidi, (we used Oliver on the last orphan) but the tabby kitten is the most photogenic at the moment since it you can see more facial features and we started calling him Mr Stripeypants. I'm sure he'll get a better name as time goes on. He doesn't seem to mind.
Lovely Lizzie
Last night the kittens and I met a beautiful tabby who had been taken away from her kittens. She was painfully engorged and not sure at first that she wanted to take on kittens. Lots of growly grumbling at first and a few hisses but she began licking the kittens and slowly but surely she curled around the new family keeping them safe and warm. I watched for an hour to be sure all was well and got up once in the night to check. She's taking good care of the little orphans and everyone seems to be happy. I'll post pictures soon.
